About

I’m an Australian artist, illustrator and children's author inspired by Australia's extraordinary wildlife. I create things that help people discover and appreciate Australian wildlife.

Why Australian wildlife?

Australia's wildlife is endlessly fascinating. There is always another remarkable creature to discover or something beautifully awe-inspiring to observe.

I’m particularly drawn to the threatened and sometimes overlooked species that don't always get the attention they deserve.

There's much more to Australian wildlife than koalas and kangaroos.

An independent Australian studio

Sarah Allen Studio is an independent, woman-owned Australian business based in Melbourne, Naarm.

Every illustration starts in Sarah's studio. She researches the wildlife, develops the artwork and decides how it is used across puzzles, posters and other products.

Sarah develops her product range working with a small network of printing and manufacturing partners.

Where possible, Sarah chooses Australian printers and suppliers, while working with specialist manufacturers overseas when they offer the skills and production methods needed for particular products.

Thoughtful choices

Sarah looks for ways to reduce unnecessary plastic in products and packaging and to choose materials with environmental considerations in mind.

Her puzzles use recycled board and FSC-certified paper, with vegetable-based inks. Products are packaged as thoughtfully as possible, with a focus on reducing unnecessary materials and re-using packaging material.

Sarah aims to make better design choices wherever she can.
